Aybuke Calikoglu received her bachelor and master degrees, both in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, from Bogazici University, Istanbul in 2016 and 2019 respectively. From 2017 to 2021, she worked as an R&D Engineer at GlakoLens, a spin-off company from Bogazici University dedicated to providing solutions to non-invasive and simple monitoring of intra-ocular pressure. There, she worked on the design, fabrication, and characterization of metamaterial inspired passive resonator architectures embedded in contact lenses targeting continuous intra-ocular pressure monitoring.
In July 2021, Aybuke has joined the Gisela and Erwin Sick Chair of Micro-optics, Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) at the University of Freiburg as an early-stage researcher within the H2020 MSCA PHAST-ETN project. She is working on a project to develop multi-modal endomicroscopy probes with 3D-printed integrated microactuators for improved in-vivo colorectal cancer diagnosis.
