Supervisor: Juergen Popp
Multimodal nonlinear imaging for clinical diagnosis in combination with laser tissue ablation for selective tissue removal
Matteo Calvarese received his Bsc. and Msc. in Engineering Physics at Politecnico di Milano with full grades, respectively in 2018 and 2020. In February 2020, he joined the European project PROCHIP working on femtosecond laser micromachining of glass substrates for micro-optics fabrication and its application to integrated microscopy. In early 2021 he continued his work as research fellow at the National Research Council (CNR-IFN), developing integrated optical components for structured illumination microscopy. In September 2021 he joined, as PhD candidate, the Spectroscopy and Imaging group at the Leibniz-Institute für Photonische Technologien (IPHT) in Jena. He will work on the combination of multimodal nonlinear imaging platforms (microscopes and endoscopic probes) and laser tissue ablation for intraoperative tumor diagnosis and removal.
